High-frequency quenching of the BQ thread (usually the male end) of core drill pipe is a targeted, localized surface heat treatment process. Its core purpose is to significantly improve the surface hardness and wear resistance of the thread, preventing "sticking" and premature wear caused by intense friction and impact during drilling.
Key Quenching Indicators
· Surface Hardness: ≥ 50 HRC
· Hardened Layer Depth: 0.5 - 2.5 mm
· Typical Cooling Method: Water cooling or polymer-based water-based quenching fluid
· High-Precision Machining: The thread should be precision machined by CNC machine tools before quenching to ensure a uniform quenched layer.
· Induction Coil Design: Custom-designed contour coils to ensure uniform heating of the thread crest and flanks.
· Timely Tempering: Low-temperature tempering should be performed immediately after quenching to eliminate internal stress, stabilize the microstructure, and prevent delayed cracking.
• Quality inspection: Random sampling is conducted using hardness testers, metallographic microscopes, etc., to ensure stable quality.
