PD50 Jump Super Wedge (Excavator-Mounted Hydraulic Rock Splitter)

一、Product Introduction:

PD50 Jump Super Wedge uses high-pressure hydraulic oil as its energy source and cleverly applies the wedge principle to generate a rock-splitting force of thousands of tons . It currently plays a vital role in the mining of large ore blocks (metallic and non-metallic), rock breaking, and the demolition of large concrete components . It is widely used in challenging and important construction and infrastructure projects, such as large-scale open-pit excavation of earth and stone , ditches, building foundations, and various rock excavation projects.

Precautions for using an Jump Super Wedge: The following are the two most important points. You must follow these requirements to operate the machine, otherwise the rock will break quickly!

1.When the rock splitter is working, reduce the excavator's throttle ! The extension and retraction speed of the piston rod in the hydraulic cylinder should be less than 32.5 mm/s, meaning the piston rod should extend for 15-20 seconds (the retraction time should be the same). You can judge this by observing the extension and retraction time of the middle wedge; be sure to control the speed carefully!

2. Apply heavy-duty, high-temperature grease to both contact surfaces of the splitting block and wedge after every 3-6 splits . When the splitting head emits a loud squeaking metallic friction sound, it indicates that the splitting head needs lubrication. Lubrication method: First, extend the middle wedge, then pry open the two side splitting blocks, and evenly apply grease to both the top and bottom contact surfaces of the splitting blocks and the middle wedge!

Recommended drilling parameters

Properly setting the splitting point is an essential task for operators. A proper setting ensures work quality and efficiency. Generally, the setting of the splitting point should meet the following two requirements:

1. The borehole spacing is reasonable, with reduced spacing in hard rock and increased spacing in soft rock;

2. The drilling depth shall not be less than 1300 mm (the specific depth depends on the type of splitting block).

The specific settings in Article 1 are empirical data, determined through practice based on the rock strength and the condition of the free face. The drilling spacing is 700 mm for hard rock with a strength of 1300~1600 kg/cm², 800~900 mm for semi-hard rock with a strength of 1000~1300 kg/cm², and 1000~1200 mm for soft rock with a strength within 1000 kg/cm².

Row spacing ( D) = 700 ~ 1200mm ; hole spacing (P) = 1000 ~ 1200mm , as shown in the diagram below:

Precautions for using Jump Super Wedge

一、Usage conditions:

1. Try to keep the hole perpendicular to the ground. If the ground rock at the drilling location is uneven, after the splitting head is put into the hole, try to keep the body of the machine-mounted rock splitter vertical and make sure that the bottom of the machine body does not touch the rock (about 30mm off the ground) before splitting the rock!

2. Drilling depth > (splitter length + hydraulic cylinder stroke + 100mm). Note: When using 0.75m splitters, the drilling depth must be greater than 1.3m (1.3~1.4m recommended ) . The machine's hydraulic cylinder stroke is 550mm .

3. The rock can only be split if it has an open surface (one side of the rock is open), a fault, or a pit; otherwise, the rock cannot be split or the effect will be poor.

二、Usage Requirements:

1. When the rock splitter is working, reduce the throttle of the excavator! The extension and retraction speed of the piston rod in the hydraulic cylinder should be less than 32.5mm/s, that is, the time for the piston rod to extend should be controlled at 15~ 20 seconds (the same applies to the time for the piston rod to retract).

三、Precautions during use:

1. Drilling spacing: Adjust the spacing based on the rock's hardness or strength (generally, harder rocks have greater strength). If the rock is hard, reduce the spacing appropriately. If the rock is soft, increase the spacing. For example, for rocks with a tensile strength of 1300-1600 kg/cm² , the drilling distance from the free face should be controlled at 0.7-0.8 meters. Rocks reaching this strength level include basalt and granite, which are difficult to break with a hydraulic breaker ; special care is needed when drilling these .

2. Apply heavy-duty, high-temperature grease to the contact surfaces of the splitting block and wedge after every 3 to 6 splits. When the splitting head makes a loud squeaking sound, it indicates that lubrication is needed. Applying grease: First, extend the middle wedge, then pry open the two side splitting blocks. Apply grease evenly to both the top and bottom of the contact surfaces between the splitting blocks and the middle wedge!

3. When using a long splitting head, such as a 1-meter long splitting head, first insert the 0.5-meter splitting head to completely split the rock, then insert the splitting head three-quarters of the way to split it, and finally insert the splitting head completely to split it again and complete the process.

4. If the machine is too far from the free face during splitting or if lubrication is insufficient, the splitting head may get stuck during full expansion, causing the entire rock splitter to jam. Do not attempt to pull the rock splitter out. Instead, use a hydraulic breaker to break up the rock around the rock splitter to remove it.

5. If you encounter a rock that cannot be split (it cannot be split), do not force it further by applying pressure. Instead, retract the wedge, lift the rock splitter again, apply lubricating grease (spread evenly) to the splitting head (the contact surface between the splitting block and the wedge), and continue splitting. If it still cannot be split, abandon the attempt to split the rock.

6. Lubricating grease for Jump Super Wedge: It is recommended to use grease with good extreme pressure and anti-wear properties (Note: It is necessary to use grease that meets both good anti-wear and extreme pressure properties), such as high-quality molybdenum disulfide grease.

四、Requirements for hoisting wire ropes:

1. This equipment will sway during operation, so the steel wire rope used needs to have a safety factor of several times to be reliable (a safety factor of 5 times or more is recommended), that is, use two turns of steel wire rope with a specification of 6*19-15.5mm or above to hoist the machine-mounted splitter.

2. Wire ropes must be scrapped according to regulations when they reach a certain level of damage.

五、Instructions for the installation of the hydraulic system of the Jump Super Wedge:

1. The hydraulic working principle of this machine is the same as that of the hydraulic cylinder. The cylinder oil circuit interface is PT1/2" (same as ZG1/2"). The installation connector is a PT1/2" to imperial 1/2" notched C-type. There are generally two installation methods for the oil circuit: ① Connect the two oil circuits of the boom cylinder, without modifying the excavator. ② Connect the two oil circuits of the breaker, requiring the installation of a two-way foot switch (excavators are generally equipped with a one-way foot switch to control the breaker oil circuit at the factory). ③ The on-board rock splitter is equipped with a manual hydraulic switch, which can be directly connected to the two oil circuits of the boom cylinder or the two oil circuits of the breaker, without modifying the excavator. In this connection method, the inlet pipe is connected to the P port of the manual hydraulic switch, and the return pipe is connected to the T port of the manual hydraulic switch.
